WAUKESHA, Wisconsin - Police said two 12 year old girls lured their classmate who is also 12 into the woods during a Saturday sleepover then stabbed her with the intent of killing her to prove the existence of the "Slender Man."
Slender Man is a mythological creature that came to existence online as a meme. It was created by user Eric Knudsen (a.k.a "Victor Surge") on forum called Something Awful. Slender Man appears to be freakishly tall, thin, with long arms, and wears a black suit. The Slender Man also appears to have no face. The stabbing happened on May 31, 2014 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier both girls are 12 years old, held down and stabbed their friend who is also a 12-year-old girl 19 times. (source:USA Today)
According to the records, both girls have been planning to kill the girl for months and made their move in a park on Saturday morning, after a slumber party.
The girls said that they did it to become "proxies" (acolytes) of the Slender Man, which they read on the internet. Specifically, on creepypasta.wikia.com a site about horror stories. They planned to run away to the demon's forest mansion after they killed the girl.
The victim survived the attack after crawling out of the woods and asking the help of a cyclist. The two girls were charged as adults with first-degree attempted homicide on Monday and are each facing up to 65 years in prison if convicted. The court set bail at $500,000 cash per child.
They will be back in court on June 11.
