"Oz" tops "The Call" and "Burt Wonderstone" this week

Disney's "Oz the Great and Powerful" dominated the box office in its second week, taking in an estimated $42.2 million and raising its overall domestic total to more than $145 million.

Among the newcomers, The Call exceeded expectations, while The Incredible Burt Wonderstone was far from incredible. Overall, the Top 12 earned an estimated $97.3 million this weekend, which is about even with the same period last year.

Oz added $42.2 million in its second outing for a 10-day total of $145 million. That's a 47 percent drop from last weekend, which is about on par with Alice in Wonderland's 46 percent decline at the same point.

The Call took second place with an estimated $17.1 million. That's way above 2007 Halle Berry thriller Perfect Stranger ($11.2 million).

But "Burt Wonderstone," which was in 3,160 theaters, pulled just $10.3 million out of its box-office hat. That's about $5 million less than analysts projected for the PG-13 film, produced by New Line and BenderSpink for an estimated $30 million.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck leaving The View

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving, The View
Us Weekly reports Hasselbeck is being ousted. She will not be on The View when next season rolls around. The report said "the show's resident conservative voice is being ousted after market research revealed that she isn't popular with TV audiences." Us cites Hasselbeck's argument with Rosie O'Donnell in 2007 over the war in Afghanistan and another with Barbara Walters over Mitt Romney in 2012.

"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing. People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."

Lindsay Lohan's house arrest

LINDSAY LOHAN House Arrest Or JAIL, Lindsay Lohan, Lindsay Lohan arrest
TMZ reported that the criminal justice system is giving Lindsay Lohan another break, the prosecutors are offering house arrest to end her lying-to-cops and probation violation cases, but TMZ were told she wont accept it.

Multiple sources connected with the case tell TMZ that the Santa Monica City Attorney and the L.A. City Attorney have both softened their position from lockdown rehab to a 90-day house arrest.

Lindsay's lawyer, Mark Heller, is telling prosecutors Lindsay will accept a certain amount of house arrest.  Right now Heller and the prosecutors are squabbling over how much house arrest. But there are reports coming out that Lindsay is adamant that she will not accept any punishment.

Oz The Great and Powerful

"Oz The Great and Powerful" imagines the origins of the beloved wizard character, who made his debut in author L. Frank Baum’s first book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. It is Disney's version of fantastical adventure directed by Sam Raimi.

When Oscar Diggs (played by James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot - fame and fortune are his for the taking - that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (played by Mila Kunis), Evanora (played by Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (played by Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late.

Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of wizardry, Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.

Overall, the film is entertaining, the visual effect is good and I'm pretty sure the kids will like the movie. However, I don't feel like Mila Kunis and James Franco were right for their role which are major for this film, their performance were forgettable.
