'Walking Dead' finale breaks series records

THe AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 3 finale had the show's biggest audience ever despite the Easter holiday TV viewership tends to dip) and despite airing head-to-head against HBO’s Game of Thrones.

AMC declared the zombie drama the top-rated scripted show on television this season.

The finale was seen by 12.4 million viewers, just barely edging out the show’s previous record viewership of 12.3 million from its February mid-season premiere. The show also had 8.1 million adults 18-49, making it the week’s top program.

"The Walking Dead" also faced heavy competition from the conclusion of History's "The Bible," which had 11.7 million viewers Sunday.

But even on Easter, zombies prevailed over the good book.

At 10 p.m., the "Walking Dead" recap show “Talking Dead” had 5.2 million total viewers, beating the season 3 premiere of HBO's "Game of Thrones."
